Last updated: June 6, 2026
Animal Tracks (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This policy describes what information we collect when you use our website (animal-tracks.org) and our mobile application (“Animal Tracks” or the “App”), and how we use and protect it.
1. Information we collect
- Website: When you browse the website, we may collect basic technical data (e.g. IP address, browser type) and usage information (e.g. pages visited) through standard server logs or analytics, if we use them.
- App and account: If you create an account, we collect the information you provide (e.g. name, email, password, profile photo). We also store data you generate in the App, such as saved tracks, suggested animals, and uploaded photos.
- Device: The App may use device identifiers (e.g. for push notifications) and may send photos you take or select to our servers for identification.
2. How we use your information
We use the information to provide and improve the service (e.g. identifying tracks, saving your data, sending verification or password-reset emails, and responding to support requests). We may use aggregated or anonymized data for analytics or to improve our identification models. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Sharing of information
We may share data with service providers that help us operate the website and App (e.g. hosting, email). We may also share information if required by law or to protect our rights and safety. Content you make public (e.g. suggested animals, shared track data) may be visible as part of the service.
4. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your data (e.g. secure connections, hashed passwords). No system is completely secure; you provide information at your own risk.
5. Your choices
You can update or delete your account and data through the App (e.g. Profile settings, Delete Account). You may also contact us to request access to or deletion of your personal data, subject to applicable law.
6. Children
Our service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
8. Contact
